Plain language note: I wrote this myself, in plain English, so it's actually readable — not because I'm trying to avoid getting it legally solid. I'm not a lawyer, and this page hasn't been reviewed by one. It accurately describes how I actually run CustomSongMe, but if you have specific legal concerns, treat this as a starting point rather than a guarantee.

Who I Am

CustomSongMe is a solo operation — it's just me, Dan. No team, no corporate structure, no outsourcing. When you place an order, I'm the one reading your story, writing your song, and handling your information personally.

What Information I Collect

When you submit a request form, I collect:

Your name, email address, and phone number
The story, names, and personal details you share for the song — which may include information about someone else (the person the song is for)
Your package and payment method selection

I do not collect payment card details directly — those go straight to Stripe, PayPal, Cash App, or Venmo, whichever you choose. I never see or store your card number.

How I Use It

Your information is used only to:

Write and produce your song
Contact you about your order — confirmations, questions, delivery, and follow-up
Match your payment to your order

I don't sell your information, and I don't send marketing spam. No exceptions.

Third-Party Services I Use

To run CustomSongMe, your form submission and payment pass through a few outside services, each with their own privacy practices:

Formspree — processes and delivers your request form submission to me
Stripe, PayPal, Cash App, or Venmo — whichever you choose for payment, processes your transaction directly
YouTube — hosts your song's video if your package includes one (see below for public vs. unlisted)

I don't control these companies' own data practices — you can review their privacy policies directly on their sites.

Public vs. Unlisted YouTube Videos

This matters enough to call out on its own. Depending on your package:

MP3 Only ($30): no video at all — your song stays completely private, delivered only as an audio file.
Complete Public ($50): your song's video is published publicly on the CustomSongMe YouTube channel. It can appear in YouTube search, recommendations, and my own portfolio and marketing. This is also how I keep the $50 price affordable.
Complete Unlisted ($75): your video is not published to my channel and won't appear in YouTube search or recommendations. It's only viewable by anyone who has the direct link.

Please don't include anything in your story that you wouldn't want shared this way if you choose the Public option. If you're not sure, choose Unlisted or MP3 Only instead.

AI-Assisted Music & Copyright

Songs are created using AI-assisted music generation tools, with me personally directing the creative process — the story, lyrics, style, and final decisions all come from me, built entirely around what you share. Copyright law around AI-generated music is still evolving, so I can't guarantee exclusive legal ownership. For personal gifting, sharing, and non-commercial use, your song is yours to enjoy freely.

Guarantee & Refunds

Personal Happiness Guarantee: if your song isn't right, I'll work with you to make it right. If I still can't make it right, you get a full refund. Payment is required upfront before I begin, and production starts once your payment is confirmed and matched to your order.

Data Retention

I keep your order information as long as reasonably needed to fulfill your order, respond to any follow-up questions, and maintain basic business records. If you'd like your information deleted after your order is complete, just ask — see contact info below.

Your Rights

You can ask me at any time to tell you what information I have on file for you, correct it, or delete it. Just reach out using the contact info below.
